Honeymoon's development is in danger.

In the past few months, Itch Corp has been disabling the Payouts payment mode for NSFW developers.

Seemingly at arbitrary times and choices, they've picked several of my colleagues off at once since as early as February.

This change, from "Collected by Itch (Paid Later)" to "Direct to you", forces a user to take the responsibility of selling the product that Itch themselves guaranteed us. It forces smaller individual developers to link their service to several payment processors themselves, and collect and remit VAT and other sales tax.  It was a responsibility we were made sure wasn't ours.

We weren't warned about this purge. And from the website owner's reaction to these private e-mails below going public on the Itch Discord server, we weren't meant to know until we seemingly broke a guideline we weren't made aware of.

Now, what does this mean to Honeymoon's development?

Development of In Heat: Honeymoon will still continue. All future updates will still be uploaded to this page. As of right now, I'm not affected by these changes. But as soon as I am, my presence in Itch will essentially be over other than to update Honeymoon.
Agreements have been met with Monsterbox to continue further development of Honeymoon on both this and a separate page. But it will mean my other products, Pandemommyum included, will not be available for sale on Itch any longer. They will still be available but noone will be able to perform a new purchase. There are plans to port it to Steam, however.

But anything is uncertain at the moment. I've asked the owner directly if my games met the guidelines and was ignored. Answering would set a standard that they don't want us to find out about, but will punish us for breaking.
I'll remind you, this was not a thing that could happen that was made aware to us. Itch made no efforts in letting us know. When asked about what was guideline-breaking or not, we were told to "try it out". And that if we reach a point where we find we broke these guidelines, it was final and that we shouldn't have reached it.

I will be fine, thanks to your support up to now. But the future of this platform is uncertain. I hope you'll continue supporting me by following me to the subsequent platform I'll migrate to. Thank you to you guys and to Monsterbox, who have been supporting me up to now.

Any updates on Honeymoon's progress?

Ye!
The endings are quite a few, so this next update will focus on tackling the Maddie/Ari route and any extra needed content for that.
However, the endings will not be included until the 3.1 update. It's a lot of work needed to get all that done. Specially while helping with In Heat and all these Itch shenanigans.
Maddie's old model is irrecoverably unusable, so we'll have to rely on her newest model as well. Sorry, old school Maddie fans.

Please look forward to the eventual Chapter 3 update!

Would subscribe star be a valid additional platform? They actually have a section fully dedicated to this stuff, and if you can link it to other services so if someone pays you it grants access to the content even if its not through their payment portal that would be perfect.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame itch.io for this.  My guess is that it's stemming from a crackdown from one of the payment processors; probably Paypal.  Be it those processors just flexing their muscles or a result of increased scrutiny of international transactions since Russia decided to act like a bunch of fools, we may never know.  But I'd bet that your ire is being directed at the wrong entity.

Im confused can someone explain it in smaller words sorry its hard for me to follow lots of words sometimes

itch.io is keeping NSFW game creators from making money in secret.
Gonna continue making the game though.

Bandcamp is likely about to go to XXXX and it looks like Itch has started going that direction.

We just want to enjoy indie/hobbyist products and support the artists, why won't they let us?

May be saying goodbye to both sites soon, but it was a good run.

If you move over to steam...
How will this affect Android players?
Can we get Android Versions from steam?
(If not this would be super sad T-T )

I don't think Steam sells android versions but the versions here will still be updated.

yes but how will this work with future projects?

Will there just be no new Android games?

No new android games on my page other than Pandemommyum and In Heat: Honeymoon, but the version we have here will be updated.
But it does mean at some point, the Android version will be limited to just whoever had bought the game before payouts get limited.

God this is honestly such bullshit, I get that the payment methods like paypal and such had rules against adult content purchases, but fucks sake itchio, you were supposed to destroy the dark side, not join them!

Hope for the best for you and everyone else working on these games, and hope someone makes a platform where you could add these games, same gamejolt took adult stuff away, twitter kinda sucks when putting links, and itchio was supposed to be the main one to work, but now it seems like that's gone.

Wow! Ok so...let me TRY to get this straight. The devs/owners of Itch are trying to implement a rules change with vague undisclosed guidelines that if broken permanently punish those that break it by making payments a hassle? I'm not well versed in all this and might need a breakdown to help me get it...but either way this sounds bad and very suspect that they want to shadow drop this. Mmm I don't like it smells highly of the devs trying to pull something to get money more than likely...or it's an agenda driven change.

The major issue with all this is they're not telling us why and how to behave properly. So that sucks a lot.

Yeah that's the gist I got late last night I guess I should have clarified I wanted to know more about how they were going to punish offenders and why that would be bad. But that aside I know this for sure. ANYTIME a dev/owner of something tries a move like this it is NEVER for a good reason and also portends to bad times ahead. I've been working on a Visual novel idea for a time now and am working on learning Renpy but maybe I should find a similar site to this one just in case Itch start going down hill. Honestly like I said this is either for money, power or an agenda no matter what...I can sense a terrible dread storm on the horizon. Everyone tread carefully and batten down the hatches just in case! I'll be praying for all of you.

if something happens will u still upload updates to here?? and just us another site to upload your work to get paid from?? and could u make a substar??

I'll still update here yea. Honeymoon might wait to be completed for a steam release, but it will continue to any new buyer on Monsterbox's page. Pandemommyum is essentially ready to be put on Steam but the process is long.
I don't feel it's fair to make a substar when most of my content is towards helping Monsterbox and my free time is to make Honeymoon. But if things get rough I'll have to approach that venue, yes.

if we already paid for it on itch, can we get it free on steam via redeems??

It's not really been discussed this early into all this, we're trying to fix up things short term wise

alright. hope this site doesnt shortchange yall.
