Devlog #2 - progress and steps back


Hi again! Here's a devlog of what's been happening for the past week!

-A new character pose for Makoto has been drafted! I found it important to have her be able to emote more clearly by giving her different poses, as she's the main focus on this part of the story. I'll keep its reveal to a later devlog, when it's more refined.

-Work on backgrounds has progressed! The colors feel off however, so at one point I'll have to make all the backgrounds match in style at least a bit. Also cactus.


-New CGs sketched. The CGs are slowly becoming the main focus of the rest of the production effort! Here's a peek at one:

-At the moment, writing is 95% complete. All that's left is to code in the following planned features and add some polish.

-Added a single choice the player may take at one point, taking the less obvious path will be rewarding in the sense we get a deeper backstory for the characters. The writing for that has been finished, all that's left is to create and implement fitting music.

-I'm planning to integrate a character selector where the player will get to pick 1 of 3 character designs to have represent the main character in the visual novel. In this way, I hope to facilitate the reader's ability to familiarize themselves with the characters more closely. However, the CGs and designs need to be finished for the modifications to be made to accommodate the selected character.

obstacles

Despite how fun it's been to work on the project at an increasing pace, some drawbacks have resurfaced. For instance, my neck injury hasn't fully recovered and I feel I've overworked my drawing wrist. Thus, those two need rest for the moment. So I'll focus on preparing all the background stuff that doesn't need much physical effort in order to hopefully make my work easier later on.
