Devlog #5 - the last stretch: week 1


Hello there! We've finished week 1 of what I call "the last stretch", where I basically sprint towards the finish line in this chapter's production since all that's left is basically 3 to 5 artworks!

Status update

So this week went kinda poorly huh? I mean, not in terms of productivity, as I was able to finish a couple things up. But health-wise, oof. I caught a cold at the start and middle of the week that left me bedridden, almost didn't have time to do much work. Almost!
Let's get into it.

Overall progress

Last devlog there were 18 tasks left, now it's down to 12. Main menu's music still feels unpleasant to the ears, and a couple tasks can only be completed when a specific task has already been finished. Such as the teaser trailer being on hold because the CGs required are not done yet. But you should be seeing a teaser trailer soon still! The music for that is done, and it has been storyboarded.

I've basically re-worked the shading method used for the VN's art, this new method is less desaturated as you can see on the right.

it may feel a bit too saturated now but the way I made the artworks allows me to tweak it if it's necessary later.

Also yeah, butt.

Things planned for the future

So I'm thinking of creating a behind the scenes video on the development of chapter 1. That sounds fun, if I can keep myself from putting too many jokes in it lol. As for the current assets that are nearly done, the closest to completion are Makoto's character sprites so I'll get to work on those today still.

I also plan on making some artwork .PSDs and sketches available for free when this chapter is released so do be on the look out for that!

Now with chapter 1 nearly finished, we can start talking chapter 2 very soon, and its subsequent addition to the cast!

Conclusion

Last time I asked you guys to share the page around and there was a significant uptick on the page's views count, so thank you very much for that! Next devlog there may not be that much content to share without getting into spoilers, so it may be a bit simpler than this. I still managed to get out a proper longer devlog this week, not so sure next one. But we'll see!
