Devlog #13- Important Demo Update

Hi there!

So, these past couple days have been intense management-wise. And a lot of stuff changed in the game's front page, so I'm taking some time right now to write what my plan is in a more concise manner.

The demo version

Due to a mistake from my part when I started uploading the game, I misnamed the files when distributing them to itch.io. Which meant the files were being updated but the filename was kept as "pandemommyum-1.0". That was fine when I was planning to do episodic releases and leave chapter 1 alone to work on chapter 2. However, that is not the case anymore as I intend to update just the one file and have available just the one demo. So chapter 1 had to become the demo, and chapter 2 had to become the full game. But both the games' filenames on itch.io were basically "pandemommyum1.0" and "pandemommyum-ch2", which meant they had to be replaced.

Another error that showed up was the fact some people who played the demo were having trouble getting the save to work on the full version. Hopefully that has been fixed with this newer update. However, I've also replaced the current available downloads with new ones. So if you were depending on the itch.io app automatically updating the game, you may have to re-download the game and ditch the old save files.

The reason they do not work anymore was, for the full game, I recategorized chapter 1's code to merge successfully with chapter 2. But, I didn't do that on the demo version, which has led us to a bug that glitches the game when you open the full version on mobile after trying the demo. However, hopefully that has been fixed now. And if it ever shows up again with a message that more or less says "there is no point to rollback to", pressing "ignore" will have renpy ignore the old save file's location in the old game and allow you to play the game again.

I would like to apologize for any trouble it may have caused, but hopefully such a problem doesn't happen again. I wish itch.io had a better way to handle renaming files so they could be renamed while keeping the ability to self-update, but unfortunately this is how it is.

If you find some more bugs, please join the Discord server while it's open. I'll continue working on the final chapter now, have a good one!
